Hacis launches SuperLink China Direct service extension to Humen, Dongguan

12th April 2005
Hong Kong

Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services Limited (Hacis) is pleased to announce the service extension of its SuperLink China Direct Northbound service, providing direct air-road connection between Hong Kong International Airport and Humen, Dongguan.

Developed by Hacis in collaboration with its mainland business partner Dongguan Humen Great Trade Container Port Company Limited, the new service is SuperLink China Direct's latest intermodal initiative to streamline the transportation and cargo handling procedures for cargo transiting between Hong Kong International Airport and Dongguan. The new cargo depot in Humen, Dongguan is the sixth of its kind in South China under the SuperLink China Direct portfolio.

The new Dongguan service offers daily scheduled consolidated trucking service from SuperTerminal 1 to Humen, Dongguan from Sunday to Friday. It features simplified customs procedures at customs checkpoints between Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong-Shenzhen boundary and Dongguan, thereby streamlining the transportation and handling procedures while cargoes are transiting in customs-bonded trucks. Cargoes arriving at the Humen cargo depot can be further delivered to consignees in Dongguan, allowing customers to benefit from the convenience of one-stop airport-to-door delivery.

Dongguan Humen Great Trade Container Port Company Limited, the joint venture partner in this project, is the operator of the largest container port in Dongguan, which is the first town-level container port in the Pearl River Delta region.

"We are glad to see the addition of Dongguan to the network of Inland Cargo Depots in the Pearl River Delta region. The new service extension will enable us to better serve the vast manufacturing base in Dongguan," said Summit Chan, Managing Director of Hacis.

"Our business partner Dongguan Humen Great Trade Container Port Company Limited has solid experience in the logistics industry in South China. Our co-operation in establishing the new Dongguan service destination will bring tangible benefits to the airfreight industry by increasing cross-boundary efficiency, thereby reducing cargo transit time and transportation cost. I would like to thank the Hong Kong Customs, as well as Mainland Customs authorities for the facilitation and support rendered.".

"We are very pleased to co-operate with Hacis in the development of the new cargo depot in Humen, Dongguan. Hacis intermodal initiatives are well-received by the airfreight industry and have achieved satisfying results. We are very confident that the new service will facilitate the trade development between Hong Kong and Dongguan, and at the same time act as a catalyst for Dongguan's manufacturing sector to develop overseas market," said Mr. Fung Kwok Lau, Managing Director of Dongguan Humen Great Trade Container Port Company Limited.

SuperLink China Direct service streamlines the logistics chain between Hong Kong and the PRD, bringing significant benefits to its customers. Cathay Pacific Cargo, one of the largest customers of the service, welcomes the service extension.

"Being one of SuperLink China Direct airline customers, we welcome the new service extension to Humen, Dongguan. The new service enhances the connectivity of our cargoes from outport to Dongguan via Hong Kong International Airport. It also enables us to better serve our customers by extending our service network to the important manufacturing base in South China," said Mr. Ronald Lam, Manager Cargo Sales and Marketing, Cathay Pacific Cargo.

Launched in 2000, SuperLink China Direct is a neutral platform of intermodal services that are efficient, reliable, information-enabled, and time-definite. Its Northbound and Southbound services provide scheduled consolidated customs-bonded trucking service between SuperTerminal 1 at Hong Kong International Airport and the network of Inland Cargo Depots located in Shenzhen, Shenzhen Baoan Airport, Huangpu Guangzhou (Free Trade Zone), Guangzhou Baiyun Airport in Guangdong Province, as well as Xiamen and Fuzhou in Fujian Province. It also operates chartered truck services to 57 destinations in the Pearl River Delta.
